After nearly 2,000 online votes poured in the last three days in The Herald’s final high school football Player of the Week poll of the season, Westwood running back JT Edore edged Lee County quarterback Stephen Collier by less than 100 votes to win the Week 11 honors.

Edore, who overcame Collier in the final hours of voting, finished with 48 percent, while Collier carried 43 percent of the votes. Westover quarterback Ta’Keevian Harris (5 percent) and Monroe quarterback Charles Stafford (4 percent) were also nominated for the award.

Edore, a Herald Dynamite Dozen selection, rushed for 149 yards and four touchdowns on 14 carries to lead the Wildcats to a blowout win against Dominion Christian in the first round of the GISA Class AA state playoffs last Friday. Edore and the Wildcats resume postseason play today with a quarterfinal game against John Milledge.
