Holiday safety program planned in Albany

Albany town hall program addresses holiday crime

ALBANY — A public presentation of safety tips for the holidays is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday at the East Albany Community Center, 1721 E. Oglethorpe Blvd.

Albany Police Chief John Proctor, Dougherty County Police Chief Cynthia Battle and Dougherty County Sheriff Kevin Sproul are scheduled to deliver tips on how to avoid scam artists engaged in identity theft as well as motor vehicle theft and burglaries.

“While celebrating the holidays, we tend to become too relaxed and let our guard down,” said Ward 1 City Commissioner John Howard, organizer of the Town Hall event. “If you are as concerned as I am about a safe and healthy community for the citizens of Albany/Dougherty, please invite senior citizens, neighbors, friends and students to the meeting.”
