Santa arrives today at Albany Mall

Official shopping season begins with tree lighting tonight

ALBANY — Albany Mall will welcome Santa aboard the Holiday Express Train at 7 p.m. today at Albany Mall.

Visitors are asked to gather beginning at 6 p.m. for hot cocoa and candy canes as they await the arrival of Santa. The Broadway Bound Singers, under the direction of Dottie Davis, will entertain with festive songs of the season beginning at 6 p.m.

At 6:30 p.m., all are invited to sing along to Christmas carols with Karla Heath-Sands. Participants can bring an unwrapped toy to donate to Toys for Tots and spare change to drop in the Salvation Army Red Kettle.

Santa will light the mall Christmas tree and start all of the trains on their journey, marking the beginning of the season at Albany Mall. He may even have a “snowy” surprise.

Santa will be at Albany Mall for visits and photos through Christmas Eve at 6 p.m. His photo set and Holiday Express Train ride are located in the JC Penney wing just outside of Belk.
