Nan Keadle Gurley

CAMILLA - Nan Keadle Gurley, 80, of Camilla, passed away on November 22, 2013 in McDonough, GA.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 25 at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home with interment in Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Joshua, Logan and Melissa Nan Gurley, Ryan Waldrep and Caroline Thiel, Clay and Brett Cape, and Daniel Hays.

Born November 5, 1933 in Hopeful, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Lula Mae and Rev. P.J. Keadle. She graduated from Camilla High School and attended Bessie Tift College. She married Cecil Gurley and raised six wonderful children who she loved and cherished. They then blessed Nan with eight grandchildren who she thoroughly enjoyed and spoiled.

Nan worked as a secretary for years in various offices. Later she greeted and encouraged all of Mitchell County for many years as she worked in local grocery delis. As a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Camilla, she volunteered on the bereavement committee for years.

She is survived by her four daughters, Gloria and Mark Saunders of Tallahassee, Fl., Mary Lynn and Greg Hays of Hopeful, Celia and Mike Thiel of Rocky Mount, NC, and Fran and Vince Cape of McDonough, Ga.; two sons, Mel and Tammy Gurley of Moultrie and Dave and Gail Gurley of Easley, SC; eight grandchildren, Joshua, Logan, & Melissa Nan Gurley, Ryan Waldrep & Caroline Thiel, Clay & Brett Cape, and Daniel Hays; her brother, P.J.

Keadle, Jr. of Apex, NC and her sister, Juanita Adams of Gainesville, Ga.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and six sisters.

Nan was also very blessed and eternally grateful to have such a loving extended family that helped her and that she cherished every day. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff and many friends that loved and cared for her at Laurel Park.

Visitation will be 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service on Monday, November 25 at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2740 River Road, Camilla, Ga. 31730.
