ALBANY — Jane Willson of Albany, long-time supporter and board member of Boys & Girls Clubs of Albany, has been inducted into the Georgia Boys & Girls Clubs Hall of Fame in Atlanta.
This prestigious honor began in 2009 and the first inductees were named in 2010. The Hall of Fame celebrates the extraordinary youth, men and women who have made significant contributions to the Boys & Girls Club movement in Georgia.
Willson is a past president and serves on the board of directors of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Albany. In 1992, the Boys and Girls Clubs honored her with their Outstanding Achievement Award and presented the C.A.R.E. Award to her in 1999. In February 2012 she was presented the “Boys & Girls Clubs of America Service to Youth Award”. The South Albany Unit of the Boys and Girls Club is named the Jane Willson Unit.
The mission of the Georgia Boys & Girls Clubs Hall of Fame includes:
— Honoring the extraordinary achievements of Club members, board and program volunteers, professional staff, and community leaders for their significant contributions to the Boys & Girls Club Movement.
— Educating target Georgia audiences on the mission, history, foundation of Boys & Girls club work, the youth development process, and the impact of Boys & Girls club on society.
— Inspiring current and attracting future volunteers, board leaders, professionals, and investors by providing the standards by which great leaders and accomplishments are measured.
