Man sent to Albany hospital after house party shooting

Police respond to aggravated assault, criminal trespass incident on Harvest Lane

ALBANY — Reports from the Albany Police Department show that bullets flew at the scene of a house party in west Albany on Saturday, injuring at least one person.

Police responded to 2900 Harvest Lane at around 1 a.m. Saturday in regards to an aggravated assault and criminal trespass. Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the APD, said the victim, Marcus Telfair, told officers — that while at a house party — an unknown person began shooting in the roadway. The victim was reportedly hit five times in the legs by several bullets, and his friends then placed him in their vehicle and took him to the emergency room at Phoebe North.

A spokeswoman at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital said Monday morning that Telfair has since been discharged.

While on the scene, officers found out that several vehicles parked on the street were also hit with rounds. Reports indicate that gunshots were also heard in the 1900 block of Harvest Lane at around the same time.

There were no further updates on Monday regarding a possible motive or a suspect description.
