ALBANY — For the second time this week, the Darton women’s basketball team cruised to a victory against an overmatched Southern Crescent Tech team by at least 75 points.

The nationally ranked No. 10 Lady Cavs beat the Lady Tigers, 95-20, Saturday afternoon in the opening game of the Titan Holiday Classic to improve to 7-3 with their fourth straight victory.

Darton, which beat Southern Crescent Tech 111-34 on Tuesday, has now outscored the Lady Tigers 206-54 this season.

“We played well (Friday),” Darton coach Lea Henry said. “Everybody got to play a lot of minutes. I thought we had great team chemistry on the floor, and we played unselfish team basketball.”

Nine of the 10 Lady Cavs that got in Friday’s game scored, including Iesha Bonner, who led all scorers with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Also getting into double figures were former Lee County star DaQuenna Moore (20 points), Cedricka Sweeting (15 points, 10 assists) and Shanae Armbrister (12 points).

Darton jumped out to a 19-0 lead before Southern Crescent even got on the scoreboard, and the Lady Cavs took a 45-10 lead into halftime. Darton is in action again at 2 p.m. today against Georgia Northwestern Tech in the final day of the Titan Holiday Classic.

“We just want to get better,” Henry said. “We have a lot of new players this year — three Division I transfers that didn’t play a lot last year. We are getting our chemistry going, and everybody is starting to understand their roles. We are still trying to get healthy after some nagging injuries a few weeks back. But we are excited about the progress we have already made this season.”

GEORGIA SOUTHWESTERN MEN 98, FLORIDA NATIONAL 47: Six Hurricanes scored in double figures Friday as GSW improved to a perfect 7-0.

It marked the highest-scoring game of the season for the Hurricanes, who jumped ahead 42-22 at halftime and then poured in 56 more points in the second half.

Jamon Hawkins led the Hurricanes with 22 points on 8-of-12 from the field, and Johathan Brooks added 12 points and 12 rebounds. Others scoring in double figures for GSW were Alan Arnett (14 points), Adrian Knight (11 points), Kevin Burnell (11 points) and Daryl Davis (10 points).

GSW plays again Wednesday at home against Clark Atlanta.
