Man stabbed by ex-girlfriend

ALBANY — A man was stabbed in the back by his ex-girlfriend Thursday as he was walking out the door of an apartment, Albany Police Department officials say.

According to a report issued by Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the Albany Police Department, the incident occurred on the 1400 block of Whispering Pines Road late Thursday evening after a verbal altercation between the suspect and victim.

Banks said the suspect and victim had ended their relationship and he had come to pick up the remainder of his belongings.

Police report that the victim sustained a puncture wound which required medical attention. The victim was transported by EMS to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for treatment, Banks said. Officials say charges are forthcoming by the family protection unit of the APD.
