Late night bicyclist shot

ALBANY — A bicyclist out for a solitary ride early Thursday was shot in the stomach by an unknown gunman.

According to Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the Albany Police Department, Prentice Davis, 18, said he was riding his bike on East Broad Avenue near Bridges Lane shortly after midnight when a vehicle, possibly a brown or silver Ford Taurus, pulled up near him.

Davis told police a male jumped from the vehicle and began firing a weapon. APD officers responded at 12:24 a.m., officials said, and Davis was transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for treatment. Information on Davis’ condition was unavailable Thursday.

Banks said an no arrests had been made in the case and the investigation was ongoing.
