LOS ANGELES — Voting is under way in the American Music Awards, with Luke Bryan and Phillip Phillips, both from Lee County, nominated.
Fans determine the winners of the categories by voting for their favorites at AMAvote.com.
Phillips, along with Florida Georgia Line, has been nominated for New Artist of the Year. Others in that category are Ariana Grande, Imagine Dragons and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.
Bryan, meanwhile, is competing with Hunter Hayes and Blake Shelton for Favorite Male Country Artist.
His most recently released album, “Crash My Party, has been nominated for Favorite Country Album. Others in that category are Florida Georgia Line’s “Here’s to the Good Times” and Taylor Swift’s “Red.”
Bryan wrapped up his 4th Farm Tour with a sold-out performance Saturday at Valdosta. His Dirt Road Diaries Tour starts at the Verizon Arena in Little Rock, Ark., Thursday. Meanwhile, a deluxe version of his platinum “Crash My Party” that includes four new songs will soon be available at Target stores.
Phillips has recently completed an iTunes Session at Capitol Records that includes acoustical versions of “Where We Came From,” “Home,” “Gone, Gone, Gone” and others. It can now be downloaded at iTunes.
Online voting has started. In addition, this is the first year that fans can for their favorite artists on Twitter.
The American Music Awards will be conducted Nov. 24 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. ABC is telecasting the event.
