Breast Cancer Awareness Walk set Saturday in Americus

AMERICUS —Phoebe Sumter Medical Center will host its 10th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk will take place on Saturday in downtown Americus.

Registration is at 8 a.m. (you don’t have to register if you already have a shirt) and the walk begins at 9 a.m. The walk will have three routes, and they will all begin and end at Lenny’s Farmer Market, which is located at 110 N. Hampton St.

The keynote speaker will be Kristin T. Collier, M.D.. General Surgeon, a member of Phoebe Sumter Surgical Associates. Collier’s main focus is comprehensive care of female patients, which includes breast surgery for cancer and benign breast disease.

The special guest will be radio personality Ebony Steele, known for her role on the Rickey Smiley Morning Radio Show. She is also a breast cancer survivor.

T-shirts for this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness Walk are available for purchase at the Phoebe Sumter hostess desk. T-shirts sizes Youth Small through Adult XL are $12, XXL and 3X are $15 and 4X shirts can be pre-ordered for $20. All checks can be made payable to Phoebe Sumter Medical Center.

The goal of this year’s in walk is to Paint the Town Pink by having more than 1,000 people attend on Saturday to help raise awareness about breast cancer and show support for all those affected.
