Former President Jimmy Carter is scheduled to teach Sunday school this Sunday at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains.


The Pattie Lofton Missionary Society will present the worship service at 11 a.m. Sunday at Bethel AME Church. The church is located at 217 S. Washington St.

Gray Chapel Church is celebrating its 88th anniversary with a clothing giveaway from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Oct. 26. The church is located at 1918 Oakhaven Drive just past Southwest Georgia Regional Airport. The church’s evangelism ministry will prepare bag lunches for all who attend. All items will be free.

Morningside United Methodist Church will celebrate its 61st homecoming at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday. Daniel Stull will be the guest speaker and Kim Whitfield will provide special music. A covered dish dinner will follow the morning service. The church is located at 121 S. Mock Road.

Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Mitchell County will have an abortion memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday. Guest speaker will be Mike Keown. The congregation has made 4,000 blue and pink crosses to represent the number of abortions performed daily in America. The church is located at 775 Pleasant Grove Church Road. Pastor Nick Hilery and Greater St. John Full Gospel will be celebrating the church’s 118th anniversary at 7 p.m. today at the Worth Community Center, 1212 N. Monroe St., Sylvester. Sunday’s Best season 3 winner, Grammy award-winning gospel artist Le’Andria Johnson, will be preaching and singing. We would like to welcome all to come out and worship with us. This is a free event.
