Men robbed, one shot in hotel intrusion

ALBANY — Four men were robbed and one shot at their hotel room on East Oglethorpe Boulevard early Friday, according to Albany Police Department.

Four Hispanic males said they were robbed at gunpoint around 12:15 a.m. when they answered a knock on their room door. According to the police report, the victims were staying at the EconoLodge Inn and Suites, 1806 E. Oglethorpe Blvd.

Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the Albany Police Department, said the victims, who are not yet named, told police the black male, wearing all black, demanded money. When told they had none, the intruder shot one of the victims in his right knee, police said. Banks said the case will be turned over to the detectives for further investigation.
