Halloween Ball set Saturday in Parrott
PARROTT — A Halloween Costume Ball featuring Stephen Harrell and The Busty Boots Band is planned Saturday in Parrott.
The ball begins at 9 p.m. and will feature a costume judging contest. The ball will continue until midnight. Beer, soft drinks and snacks will be available. Admission is $10 per person.
The event will be held at the old cotton warehouse building behind Rick’s Main Street BBQ. Tickets will be available at the door.
Verge hosting Pink Parade to benefit Cancer Coalition
ALBANY — Verge will host its second “Pink Parade” Fall Fashion Extravaganza AT 5:30 p.m. today to help raise funds for the Cancer Coalition of South Georgia, Inc.
The free event will feature a fashion show, entertainment, cash bar and food available from the Taco Truck.
A feature of the event is the Bedazzled Bra showcase featuring bras decorated by local businesses and organizations and modeled by male models. The bras will be available for auction with all proceeds benefiting Cancer Coalition of South Georgia, Inc.
Third Avenue closing for resurfacing work
ALBANY — Third Avenue between Dawson Road and Slappey Boulevard will be closed intermittently for milling and resurfacing work until Monday.
K. Bruce Maples, City of Albany director of engineering, said the work is finance by SPLOST VI funds.
City candidates to speak Saturday at Law Enforcement Center
ALBANY — Candidates for the Ward II and III spots on the Albany City Commission have been invited to speak at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Law Enforcement Center, 201 W. Oglethorpe Blvd.
Jon Howard, Ward I commissioner, said the open forum should end about 11:30 a.m. He said voters will have an opportunity to socialize with the candidates before casting their votes on Nov. 5.
