Sallie Mae Taylor McDowell
BLAKELY - Mrs. Sallie McDowell, 95, of Albany, Ga. and formerly of Blakely, Ga. died Wednesday afternoon at the Willson Hospice House in Albany. Her funeral will be held Friday, Oct. 25, 2013 at 1 PM as a graveside service in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Arlington, Ga. Rev. Keith Gaines will be officiating. Mrs. McDowell was born Nov. 11, 1917 in Early County to the late John William Taylor and Sallie Belle Swords Taylor. She was retired as a Case Worker for the Calhoun County Dept. of Family and Childrens Services and she was a member of the White Pond Freewill Baptist Church in Damascus, Ga. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands: Guy Chappell Jennings and Manuel A. McDowell. She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, 3 sisters and several nieces and nephews.
Her survivors include 2 daughters: Jyl Goodson of Albany, Ga. and Jan Collins of Woodstock, Ga. She has 2 grandchildren; Terrie Collins Martin and her husband Jason and Traci Collins and Brian Sullivan, all of Columbus, Ga. and a sister -in-law, Catherine Lewis of Blakely, Ga. There are 4 great grandchildren: Emma, Chloe, and twins-Ava & Lily Martin, all of Columbus. She also has several nieces and nephews.
