ALBANY — HeritageBank of the South has contributed $425,000 to the Georgia GOAL Scholarship Program, benefiting Georgia students attending private K-12 schools of choice.
Of that total, Deerfield-Windsor School received a check for $200,000 during halftime of last week’s football game. Making the presentation to headmaster Dave Davies were Heath Fountain and David Durland of Heritage.
The gift was distributed statewide throughout schools in HeritageBank’s various market areas.
“At HeritageBank, serving the community and education are two of our top priorities,” said Len Dorminey, CEO of HeritageBank of the South. “This contribution is just another way we can strengthen our community and invest in the education of future generations.”
“On behalf of Deerfield-Windsor School and our current 55 GOAL Scholars, I want to express my sincere gratitude to HeritageBank of the South for this leadership gift”, said Davies
The Georgia GOAL Scholarship Program (www.goalscholarship.org) is one of the largest Student Scholarship Organizations in the state. From the program’s inception in 2008 through 2012, GOAL has awarded more than $33 million in scholarships to nearly 9,000 students statewide. The mission of Georgia GOAL is to provide greater opportunities for access to learning for all Georgia children.
Deerfield-Windsor School has participated in the GOAL Scholarship Program since 2009 and has had 74 GOAL Scholars in five years of participation.
Also receiving a share of the contribution were Sherwood Christian School, Byne Christian School and St. Teresa’s School.
