THOMASVILLE - Oris Washington Bryant Jr. 60, of Leesburg formerly of Thomasville, died Thursday September 5, 2013 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 901 South Westover Road with Dr. Daniel Simmons officiating. Interment will follow at Peacefulrest Cemetery, Thomasville.

Oris was a 1975 Graduate of Fort Valley State University where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, He was Director of Public Safety and Chief of Police at Georgia Southwestern State University.He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Ga. CLEA, where he served as Past President and was the treasurer at his time of demise. he was also a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. and was Past President of the Fort Valley State University, National Alumni Association.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife, Thedis Washington Bryant of Leesburg, a son, Laboya Bryant, of College Park, GA; a daughter, Ariele Nicole Bryant, of Fort Valley, a grandson, Lawson Labron Bryant and a granddaughter Jayla Bryant both of College Park, two sisters, Denise Brown (Steve) and Andrea M. Bryant both of Thomasville, his brothers, Arthur T. Bryant III of Thomasville and Anthony T. Bryant (Rhonda) of Chelsea, AL; his father-in-law, Rev. Lee C. Washington of Montgomery, AL; a brother-in-law, Lee E. Washington of Phenix City, AL and sisters-in-law Cassandra W. Conway (Robert) and Athena Pitts (Norvelle) both of Montgomery, AL; Muriel W. Holt (Eugene) of Lithonia, GA; and Katrina W. Sanders (Robert) of Peachtree City, GA; an aunt, Rheba Bryant of Macon, GA; Great aunts, Fannie Young of Beachton, GA; Rosa Lee Bryant of Boston, GA; Dorothy Bryant and Eunice Hatcher both of Detroit MI; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends.

Active Pallbearers will be Eric Bryant, Sammy Stone, Joe Monts, Otis Abrams, Eddie Jackson, Ben Matthews, Eric Finch, Charlie Whitehead, Sam Miller, and Robert Ross.

Visitation will be TODAY Monday, September 9, 2013 from 1:30P.M TO 8:00 P.M. at Hatcher-Peoples Funeral Home, 820 Wright St, Thomasville. Mr. Bryant will lie instate on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at the church from 8:00 A.M. to 10:45 A.M.
