Heritage Financial makes Georgia Trend's Top 100 list

ALBANY — Heritage Financial Group Inc, by Georgia Trend magazine’s definition, has reached the heavyweight division among Georgia’s top public companies.

Heritage is the only Albany-based public company on the Top 100 list published each year by Georgia Trend. The ranking is based on revenue in 2012.

Heritage came in a No. 84 on the list with $68 million in revenue. The banking company, according to the magazine, has 321 employees and has substantially expanded its market area throughout Georgia and into Alabama and Florida.

Most of the public companies on the list are based in metro Atlanta, including No. 1 Home Depot. Ranked No. 2 through 4 are, in order, United Parcel Service Inc., Cola-Cola Co. and Delta Air Lines Co. The top-ranked non-Atlanta company is Aflac Inc. at No. 5.

The highest ranked company from Southwest Georgia is Flowers Foods Inc., based in Thomasville. Ameris Bancorp, based in Moultrie, is ranked No. 68. Southwest Georgia Financial Corp., also based in Moultrie, made the list at No. 98.

“We are pleased to be among the Top 100 Companies,” said Len Dorminey, CEO of HeritageBank of the South. “Heritage Financial is well positioned to continue to grow strategically which will offer long term value to our stockholders. Our strong capital position and commitment to smart banking practices will continue to serve the Bank, our stockholders and our customers well.”

“Anytime you get positive press, it’s always an honor, but it’s certainly an honor to be included with companies like Home Depot, UPS, Delta Airlines, Coca-Cola. “This is great news for the bank and great news for Albany.”
