Sallie Mae Tarrence
CAMILLA - Sallie Mae Tarrence, daughter of the late Bennie Torrence and Annie Walker, was born July 2, 1922 in Calhoun County near Leary, Georgia. When she was two weeks old, her mother passed away. At the death of her mother, she was reared by her grandparents, Lucy Walker and Wiley Walker, in Newton, Georgia.
She was a member of New Salem C.M.E. Church where she served in several auxiliaries.
She departed this life on Saturday, September 7, 2013, at Palmyra Nursing Home in Albany, Georgia.
She leaves to cherish her memories, three grandsons, Robert James Walker, Jr. (Irina) of Jersey City, New Jersey, Eric Walker (Deon) of Marietta, Georgia, Kristopher Walker (Alecia) of Albany, Georgia; two granddaughters, Keryl Gasque (Anthony) of Fairburn, Georgia, Jessica Allen (Nathan) of Powder Spring, Georgia; nine great grandchildren, Ryneshia Walker of McDonough, Georgia, Paige Walker of Albany, Georgia, Cameron Walker and Bryson Walker of Marietta, Georgia, Jayden Gasque and Jaxon Gasque of Fairburn, Georgia, Jada Allen and Jordan Allen of Powder Spring, Georgia, Sydney Walker of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; one great-great grandchild, Drew Walker of Albany, Georgia; two brothers, Edward Torrence (Mary Ann) of Springfield, Virginia, Lawrence Torrence (Mary Doris) of Wilmington, Delaware; three sisters, Beaulah Babbs and Edith Jackson of Mount Dora, Florida, Joyce Warren of McDonough, Georgia; a niece, Dorothy Daniels of Albany, Georgia.
The funeral service will be conducted Saturday, September 14, 2013, at 12:00 noon, at New Salem C.M.E. Church, 2517 Patmos Milford Highway, Newton, Georgia. Reverend Willie Wade will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
