ALBANY — The Meadowbrook Lane home of Carolyn and Lee Cox has been designated as the Yard of the Month for September by the Daffodil Garden Club.
“Carolyn and Lee Cox have only lived in this house for about 12 years, but you would never know it had been such a short time,” said Marideane Maxwell, who chairs the club’s yard of the month program. “They both work in the yard and Carolyn says Lee taps on the window some time to remind her to come in the house.
“She also says that she never did any yard work or tended flowers until she retired. We should all be so talented!”
Each month, the club chooses an attractive yard from a number of nominations for recognition. Maxwell said the Coxes’ residence is worth driving by to see.
“The front of the house is really neat and you will be impressed with the beautiful ferns,” she said. “Now, you must also drive very slow down the paved alley behind the house as there is a lot to see.
“Besides the beautiful Gazebo there is a profusion of blooming plants that anchors the back of the house. The open garage is not overlooked. It is also an outdoor room that includes a hanging swing.”
There also are other attractive residences nearby.
“I can’t say enough about this one,” Maxwell said, “so take the tour along 2324 Meadowbrook Lane and you will see some beautiful yards as you exit down the paved alley.”
The Daffodil Garden Club’s next meeting is 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Garden Center on Fifth Avenue. Speaking Tuesday will be Kevin Hil from Chehaw.
The club asks members of the public to submit suggestions for the monthly recognition. To submit a nomination, call Maxwell at (229) 436-6888.
