SYLVESTER — Worth County will be the center of the state for yard sale enthusiasts in October when the 100-Mile Peanut Pickin’ Yard Sale comes through downtown Sylvester.

The thid annual Peanut Pickin’ Yard Sale will be held on Oct. 12, from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. rain or shine, according to Brittany Evans, Downtown Enhancement Director for the City of Sylvester.

The route will begin on U.S. Highway 41 in Unadilla and travel south to Vienna, continue south to Highway 33 from Cordele through Sylvester, loop through downtown Moultrie, follow 133 through Berlin and then Highway 333 to Quitman.

Vendors will feature everything from antiques, collectibles, hidden treasurers, handmade furniture and more, Evans said.

She said vendors will be able to choose between two large multi-organization sites located in downtown Sylvester, or become an individual vendor and set up along the route within Worth County. Those participating in Sylvester will be given “official vendor” signs to display.

“Vendors of Sylvestere are guaranteed successss in ales due to the heavy foot traffic of bargain hunters in the downtown historic business district,” Evans said. “Participating vendors will include a variety of fabulous sidewalk sales at downtown businesses as well as traditional yard sale wares rom handmade crafts, antiques, selling both old and new items.”

The Downtown Sylvester Farmers Market will also be held at the downtown train depot. A comfort station will be located at First Baptist Church to provide restroom facilities and free water.

Evans said an added benefit of the yard sale is that it gives visitors an opportunity to visit the community, eat at local restaurants and experience the Southern hospitality.

Corporate sponsor ConAgra Foods/Peter Pan Peanut Butter, on behalf of the Georgia Peanut Festival, will be serving grilled peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in Sylvester on the day of the yard sale in front of the Chamber of Commerce building.

She said church groups, clubs, businesses and individuals are encouraged to participate. She said additional information can be obtained by calling (229) 430-7735. Prospective vendors can call the same number to reserve a space. The official website is www.100milepeanutpickinyardsale.com
