Former President Jimmy Carter is not scheduled to teach Sunday School this Sunday at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains.


A Mens and Womens Day celebration is planned Sunday at Greater Pines Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Kenneth J. Bush of Beaufort, S.C., will give the message at 11:15 a.m. Sunday. The Rev. Dr. Willie Ross Jr., a member of the Mount Temple Missionary Baptist Church of Dawson, will bring the message at 3 p.m. Sunday for the Mens and Womens Day celebration.

A cemetery cleaning is planned at Turner Primitive Baptist Church in Tift County at 8 a.m. on Oct. 5. Participants should bring tools including edging, weeding and mowing equipment. The cemetery is located in the eastern edge of Tift county off Ferry Lake Road and three and a half miles north of Enigma on the Turner Church Road.

Arcadia Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate her annual Men and Women’s Day at 11 a.m. Sunday. Arcadia is located at 1214 N. Jackson Street. Sunday School begins at 9:30 a.m. Milton Sheppard will be the speaker.

Beulah Land Missionary Baptist Church of Cordele will celebrate the Rev. James Dexter Taylor Sr.’s fourth anniversary at 4 p.m. on Oct. 6. The Rev. Jerry D. Black of Decatur will be guest speaker.

Union Church of Bluffton is planning a Family and Friends Day program at 11 a.m. on Sept. 29. The church is located north of Bluffton on U.S. Highway 27.
