Saddle Club celebrating 50th anniversary with reunion

ALBANY —The Dougherty County Saddle Club invites all past, present and future members to celebrate the organization’s 50th anniversary with a fun show and reunion on Saturday.

Founded in 1963, the mission of the Dougherty County Saddle Club has always been to encourage and stimulate a love for horses. For more than four generations, the non-profit organization has given riders and equine enthusiasts from across South Georgia and North Florida an opportunity to show, learn and fellowship with others.

The reunion event will be the perfect occasion for the community to come together and reminisce on the many memories made at the Saddle Club over the Club’s 50 year history, according to Carol Rathel, one of just three lifetime members.

“This club has touched the lives of so many people in the Albany community.” said Rathel. “There will be folks at this event that showed as youth and are now watching their grand-children show horses. We are looking forward to everyone sharing their old stories and making new memories.”

The fun show and reunion lunch will be held at the Club grounds located at 2924 Lonesome Road at 10:30 a.m. There will be fun games on foot as well as horseback followed by a covered dish lunch. For more information, visit www.docosaddleclub.com or Facebook® Dougherty County Saddle Club.
