Albany police respond to pair of aggravated assaults

ALBANY — Two aggravated assaults, one an armed robbery attempt, made up for the activity responded to by the Albany Police Department from Saturday through early Monday, reports show.

The attempted robbery was reported from Buffalo Wild Wings at 2822 Nottingham Way around 1 a.m. Monday. Sonya Johnson, planning and research manager and spokeswoman for the APD, said that officers responded in emergency mode, and restaurant employees reported an attempted robbery by two unknown males at gunpoint.

A search was made of the area for the suspects, but they were not immediately found. The case remains active and has been forwarded to investigators, Johnson said. Nothing further was available on the incident Monday afternoon.

An aggravated assault also took place at 608 Moultrie Road about 1:30 p.m. Saturday, reports show. In that case, a 29-year-old man reported that several people jumped on him and cut him. The man said the assault and injury were initiated by person he identified as Kovarious Stephens.

That case had been cleared and closed by Monday afternoon, Johnson said. No further information was available.
