Herald to print pink edition Monday

ALBANY — Monday’s edition of The Albany Herald will have a different look to it. In what has become an annual tradition, The Herald chooses one October issue to be printed on pink paper in support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Albany Herald website, www.albanyherald.com, will feature a pink background on Monday as well.

“We want to bring awareness to not only breast cancer, but to other health issues as well,” said Albany Herald General Sales Manager Ken Boler. “We’ve chosen tomorrow’s edition in recognition of the Herald’s recent launch of “Medical Monday,” in which we provide our readers with medical information and tips that can help them prevent illness and stay healthy.”

“Breast cancer is the second-most frequent cancer for women of all races, and also the second-highest in terms of death from cancer. If seeing the pink stock of Monday’s paper or the pink background on the albanyherald.com website reminds one of our reader to call her doctor and set up a screening that she’s been putting off, then the pink paper has done its job. The earlier that this cancer is spotted, the better,” said Albany Herald Editor Jim Hendricks.
