Juvenile charged with burglary in Sylvester

Sylvester juvenile suspected of earlier crimes

SYLVESTER — A 14-year-old juvenile has been charged with burglary of Pizza Quick on West Franklin Street in Sylvester, police officials say. Sgt. Kenneth Washington with the Sylvester Police Department said the same juvenile was charged for the same crime in August.

Washington said that patrol officer Paul Klein with the SPD was performing surveillance on the restaurant when he spotted the juvenile around 11:22 p.m. on Wednesday. The suspect was crawling through a window that had been broken in a previous burglary, Klein reported.

Klein called for backup, Washington said, and additional officers arrived to arrest the juvenile.

Washington said the juvenile was transferred to the Regional Youth Detention Center in Crisp County.

Officials are waiting on forensic evidence to determine if the same juvenile was the person who broke into Pizza Quick on March 30 and April 8, Washington said.
