Former President Jimmy Carter will teach Sunday School at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains on Easter Sunday. The class begins at 10 a.m., but the church building opens at 8:30 p.m. The church is located just north of Plains at 148 Highway 45.


New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church has several activities planned including its Easter Sunday morning worship service at 8 a.m. with Pastor Booker T. Batten bringing the resurrection message. There will not be an 11 a.m. worship service Sunday. The Youth Department at the church will conduct its annual Easter egg hunt at 5 p.m. Saturday. Also, the church mission board of New Jerusalem will celebrate its annual Green Tea program at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Deacon and Deaconess Board of New Jerusalem Missionary Church will celebrate its annual Fellowship Service at 6 p.m. Sunday. County Line Baptist Church of Sasser with Pastor Jackson Johnson will be in charge of the service. The church is located at 327 Cedar Ave.
