ALBANY — One person has died from stab wounds received at 1903 Barnesdale Way on Tuesday, police officials say. Officers of the Albany Police Department responded to the address on reports of an attempted robber and learned that Robert Soilberry, 19, of Albany had been stabbed.

Sioilberry was transported by EMS to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for treatment, officials say, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

In connection with the ongoing investigation, Aveontae Grier, 20, has been charged with two counts of robbery by force and taken to the Dougherty County jail, officials say. Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the APD said the circumstances surrounding Soilberry’s death and the attempted robbery continue to be investigated by a robbery/homicide team.

Dougherty County District Attorney, Greg Edwards said that Soilberry may have been stabbed when he and Grier attempted to rob two unidentified individuals in a nearby vehicle. Interviews continue to be conducted and the case investigated, Edwards said.
