ALBANY — Officers of the Albany Police Department responded to Carroll’s Sausage and Meats, 118 Philema Road, around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, officials say, for a possible robbery in progress.

The suspect had been described as a black male wearing a white shirt and black pants and running from the store, officials say.

According to officials, Timothy Banthongsack was apprehended at the intersection of Barfield Avenue and Jewel Street and charged with robbery by sudden snatching for the theft of a “tip jar” from Carroll’s. Banthongsack was transported to the Dougherty County jail, officials say, and the crime scene was turned over to investigators.
