The final Chapter of the demise of the United States continues to be written and at the speed of a runaway train going downhill. In 1787, Professor Alexander Tyler tried to map out the evolution of a democracy. He determined a democracy would only last about 200 years. History has proven he is very accurate.
Although we are past the 200-year mark, more damage has been done to our freedom, pride, respect and well-being in the past six years than can probably be corrected in the next 100 years. It is scary as to what the Holocaust of the United States is going to be. We are going into mid-term elections with politicians jockeying for position who haven’t a clue as to what is best for this country, but only for themselves. They take polls to find out what the public thinks and wants to hear. Each speech is crafted toward giving them what they want, not what is needed.
Of the eight steps of the rise and fall of a democracy Tyler laid out, the U.S. has gone from complacency to apathy, heading at breakneck speed from apathy to dependence — where our current administration has been leading us since day one — with the final goal from dependence into bondage.
By increasing the number of people on welfare, the people are willing participants into their own demise without realizing what is happening until it is too late. It’s like the scenario of the frog put into water. The water is slowly warmed until it is boiling. By the time the frog realizes what has happened to him, it’s too late.
Two things come to my mind in the direction of the United States. One, “When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice, when the wicked rule, the people groan.” (Proverbs 29:2) Second, “The cowardice of our so-called “leadership” is obvious. How lucky for them that when it comes to any decisions of importance, they can hide behind the skirts of the majority!” (Adolph Hitler)
We are but one mistake from ruination.
