ALBANY — Supporters of Flint River Habitat for Humanity are planning to rock and roll for a cause this weekend as area bands gather at Austin’s Fire Grill for the annual Hammer Jam.

This Saturday, Relapse, Split Creek and Rod Holt and the Fractured Souls will be performing at the Albany restaurant as part of the third annual Hammer Jam, Flint River Habitat for Humanity’s largest annual fund-raising event.

According to Flint River Habitat for Humanity board member Doug Adair the Hammer Jam event is a way to generate much needed funds for the organization as well as provide exposure to the community.

“This will be our third event,” said Adair. “We’ve been having great turnouts the past two years, so I expect this year will be good too. It’s just a real fun time.”

Adair said that in addition to the live music, Hammer Jam will also feature raffles and other prizes. This year the organization plans to raffle off a flat panel TV and also a five day, five person hunt in Argentina that will include accommodations, in-field travel during the hunt and food and beverages.

Toyota of Albany, which is the event’s primary sponsor, will also be doing a contest throughout the evening to give away a 2014 Toyota vehicle.

“Folks will be able to pay $1 for a Frisbee and get a chance to throw the Frisbee through the window of the vehicle,” Adair said. “I imagine we’ll be throwing at that all night.”

The event is scheduled from 5 p.m. to midnight and will take place in the parking lot in front of Austin’s. General admission is $15 with all proceeds going to benefit Flint River Habitat for Humanity. Adair said there are also reserve tables available that will be set up on the restaurant’s deck.

A table for four is $400, a table for six is $600 and a table for eight is $1000. Adair said that access to the deck will be limited to those who have reserved tables. Anyone interested in purchasing a reserve table or wanting more information about the event can contact Adair at (229) 733-0272 or Jill Kleckley at (229) 317-0980 ext. 115.

Austin’s Fire Grill is located at 2817 Old Dawson Road in Albany.
