ALBANY — Two gunmen tried to rob the Burger King on North Slappey Boulevard Wednesday, police officials say, but were scared off by an unexpected alarm.
Shabrecca Sheard, 30, told officers of the Albany Police Department that when she entered the restaurant to begin her shift around 4:30 a.m., two men in masks ran from the rear of the building and entered from behind her. Both suspects were armed with handguns, according to Sheard, and one of the men jumped onto the restaurant counter.
Sheard stated to police that a restaurant employee at the rear of the building saw what was happening and ran out the back door, which activated the alarm. Both masked men fled on foot, officials say.
Police spokeswoman Phyllis Banks said the suspects are described as black males, average height and both were wearing black. The case remained under investigation Wednesday, Banks said.
