ALBANY — The Albany Police Department Investigation Bureau and Family Protection Unit is soliciting the public’s assistance with locating a wanted individual.

Montravious Darity, 25, is wanted on charges of battery and kidnapping in an incident involving his ex-girlfriend on Thursday. Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the APD, said Darity showed up at the woman’s job about 8:15 a.m. that day and forced his way inside her vehicle, driving off with her inside the SUV.

The woman told authorities that Darity struck her repeatedly on her head and body before stopping the vehicle in an alley. She was able to escape through the passenger side window, Banks said.

Afterwards, police say, Darity drove away in her 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which was recovered Saturday.

The APD Family Protection Unit has issued warrants for kidnapping (domestic violence), motor vehicle theft and battery (domestic violence) against Darity.

Anyone with information regarding Darity’s whereabouts should call Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS (8477), or the APD at (229) 431-3288 or (229) 431-2100.
