Albany police respond to armed robbery, kidnapping at restaurant

No injuries reported in Sunday evening holdup

ALBANY — The Albany Police Department responded Sunday night to what officials are calling an armed robbery and kidnapping at the Burger King in East Albany, where six employees were victimized, reports show.

The incident was reported around 10:50 p.m. on Sunday from the restaurannt at 2007 E. Oglethorpe Blvd. Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the APD, said the victims stated that while they were inside of the business cleaning up, three gunmen with their faces covered entered the lobby.

The gunmen then forced the employees to move to the back as they took money out of the safe in the office. The suspects fled the business on foot, Banks said.

There was an undisclosed amount of cash taken. Police officials said the bandits were described as three black males dressed in black. No injuries were reported.
