August Yard of the Month
The residence of Norma and Ken Eder, 515 Summit Drive, has been named August 2014 Yard of the Month by the Daffodil Garden Club.
ALBANY — A home in the 500 block of Summit Drive in Albany has been selected as the August Yard of the Month by the Daffodil Garden Club.
Marideane Maxwell, who chairs the club’s selection committee for the monthly recognition, said the home at 515 Summit Drive belongs to Norma and Ken Eder.
“They have lived in this lovely home about 22 years,” Maxwell said, “but in just the last three years they have taken a greater interest in their yard.”
The result has been a colorful success, she said.
“The colors they have chosen for their home make quite an impact,” Maxwell said, “and you will notice the added interest on the front porch that complements the colors.
“Many beautiful blooming flowers are interspersed throughout the beds.”
The latest addition is particularly striking, she said.
“The newest bed is located on the side of the house near the drive and features a beautiful dark blue medallion mounted on the wall,” she said. “Large boxwoods were moved around the foundation and the effect is certainly pleasing.
“Be sure and drive by and enjoy.”
Officials with the Daffodil Club say they conduct the monthly recognition program in the hope that it will inspire others to take a greater interest in their own homes’ curb appeal. Nominations for the award are accepted from the public. To nominate a residence, contact Maxwell at (229) 436-6888.
The club meets on the third Tuesday of the month, but does not meet in August. The next meeting is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Federated Garden Center, 808 Fifth Ave.
A plant exchange is planned for that September meeting, Maxwell noted.
