James Robert Wills, Sr.
TOCCOA-Mr. James Robert Wills, Sr., age 86, of Toccoa, passed away Tuesday August 19, 2014 at his home with his family by his side.
Born May 20, 1928 in Baker County, GA, he was the son of the late Robert Grady and Suzie Brown Simpson Wills.
He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and was a United States Marine Corps. Veteran. Mr. Wills worked with Coats & Clark in Albany, GA, Jamesville, NC, Newport News, VA and retired in Toccoa, GA after 40 years of service. He loved his family and enjoyed gardening. His dog Jenny and cat Lady Bug held a special place in his heart.
Family members include his wife, Evelyn Veale Wills; sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Vivian Wills of Toccoa, and Charles and Sandra Wills of Eastanollee; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Tim Barber of Jamesville, NC; brother, Howard B. Wills of Arizona; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother in law, William Veale; and a sister-in-law, Hazel Neal of CA.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Veale; half-brother and sister-in-law, Julius and Stella Bridges; and a half-sister and brother-in-law, Myrtle and Robert Edwards; and a special friend, Barney Farmer.
Funeral services will be held at two o’clock Friday, August 22, 2014 at Ebenezer Baptist Church with the Rev. Andy Childs, the Rev. David Sosebee, and the Rev. Jason Long officiating.
Burial will follow at Toccoa City Cemetery with his grandson, the Rev. Jason Long officiating at the graveside service and military honors provided by the United States Marine Corps.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers; Pudden Rumsey, Clint Thompson, Buster Keller, Daniel Mize, William Howard and Tony Carter.
The Harlow-Pruitt Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm Thursday.
