Albany police warn 'Purge' instigators

Purge propagators are warned of criminal charges

ALBANY — Police are patrolling social media sites in an effort to track down posters promoting “the Purge” in Albany, officials say. According to Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the Albany Police Department, investigators have the names of several “posters” and will be making home visits warning the instigators they could face charges of inciting criminal activity.

The social media activity is allegedly related to a theme of the 2013 movie “The Purge” in which violent activity was made legal for a 12-hour period once each year. Police officials are encouraging citizens to report any suspicious activities.
