Mildred was born June 9th, 1921 in Holmes County, Florida. She was a member of Cordrays Methodist Church. Mildred lived in her beloved home in Bullneck/Cordrays Community for over 60 years. Here she and her husband Kenneth raised their family of eight children. She was well known in the community for her giving and loving nature.

Mildred was a proficient quilter who gave away over 600 quilts to family, friends, and even strangers. She loved nothing more than cooking and filling her home with family and loved ones. She baked many cakes through the years, especially pound cakes and red velvet cakes.

Spending time with her family was Mildred’s greatest joy. She was a beloved Grandma who spoiled all her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was affectionately known as Aunt Mildred to many others. She and her sisters shared close relationships and were the best of friends. They giggled like school girls when they were together. Her last two years were spent at Lee County Health and Rehabilitation where she was known as a caring person who spent her days bringing comfort and friendship to others. She was a faithful letter writer and never forgot a birthday.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Kenneth Brazel; her parents, Euell and Reba Matthews; two sisters, Gladys Cox and Sabie Herring; and a brother, Wyatt Matthews.

She is survived by her eight children, Wayne (Helen) Brazel of Albany, Imogene Hart of Marietta, Harold Brazel of Pelham, Gail (Charlie) Rowell of Leesburg, Gary (Piper) Brazel of Cuthbert, Helen Gay of Dawson, Carol (Larry) Jepson of Alpharetta, and David (Bonnie) Brazel of Cordrays Community. She leaves behind three sisters, Sybil Sketoe, Mary Brazile, and Jo Moore, and sister-in-law, Beck Brazel. She will be greatly missed by her nineteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.
