Armed robbers hit West Albany business on Monday

Two individuals rob beauty shop

ALBANY —The Albany Police Department responded to an armed robbery of a business in West Albany on Monday evening.

The incident took place at U.S. Beauty Mart, 1107 W. Broad Ave. between 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., reports show. Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the police department, said units responded to the location in reference to an armed robbery. Contact was made with the victim, who reported that two black males wearing ski masks and black hoodies came into the business, approached the clerk and demanded the money out of the register.

The clerk complied and the suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash. During the robbery, there were approximately 12 people in the business. They all ran out the back door while the suspects fled out the front. No injuries were reported, Banks said.
