Portion of Liberty Expressway closing Thursday

ALBANY — A portion of the Liberty Expressway in Albany will be closed Thursday to allow for construction on the new Jefferson Street overpass.

The Georgia Department of Transportation announced that the right, westbound lane at Exit 5 will be closed from noon until 3 p.m. Thursday to allow workers to set beams for the new bridge over Jefferson Steet.

Traffic on Jefferson Street will be slowed and controlled by flaggers while the beams are set. The DOT has requested motorists slow down, avoid distractions while driving and obey flag crews.
