Albany firefighters battle flames in pickup truck fire

A pickup bursts into flames Thursday on the Liberty Expressway

ALBANY — Albany firefighters a Dodge pickup truck ablaze Thursday while responding to reports of a vehicle on the Liberty Expressway, near North Jefferson Street, fire officials said.

According to a report by Steven Johnson with the Albany Fire Department, firefighters found the truck “fully involved” in flames when they arrived.

About 400 gallons of water were used to extinguish the blaze, which had engulfed the truck owned by Beverly Carnegie of Swift Street in Albany, Johnson stated in his report.

Engine 2 of the AFD remained at the scene until a wrecker truck arrived to ensure the fire was out, the report stated, then returned to its station.

No one was injured in the incident, fire officials said.
