Arrests made in west Albany apartment shooting

Multiple charges filed in connection to Saturday shooting on Gillionville Road

ALBANY — Several arrests were made Monday in connection to a shooting on Saturday evening in west Albany that injured a 20-year-old man, Albany police officials say.

The incident is reported to have occurred just before 9 p.m. at College Park Apartments at 2214 Gillionville Road. Information provided by Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the Albany Police Department, says that the victims stated they heard someone knocking on the front door. Someone answered the door and two armed suspects reportedly entered the residence — one with a shotgun and one with a handgun.

The victims stated the suspect with the shotgun began shooting and that Rashaun Macney was struck in the leg. The suspects fled the scene. Macney was treated by emergency medical personnel and transported to the hospital for further treatment, Banks said.

A spokeswoman at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital said there was no information Monday on Macney’s condition.

The initial investigation determined the shooting was a result of a home invasion. The suspects forced their way inside the apartments which are sectioned into four, Apts. 85-88, and began firing shots inside, Banks said.

The four individuals charged were Lenard Quincy Glover, 19, Michael Anthony Dahiling, 22, Azarius Jaleel Stephenson, 22, and Joshua Denzell Alford, 21. Each was charged with two counts of burglary, seven counts of aggravated assault and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime, Banks said.
