ALBANY — A residence at the corner of Hutchinson Drive and Kenilworth Lane has been selected by the Daffodil Garden Club as Albany’s Yard of the Month for February.
Marideane Maxwell, chair of the selection committee, remarked about the “beautiful grounds” at the home of Wallace and Jennifer Bonner, 2220 Hutchinson Lane.
“Wallace does what is needed around the house and he makes it look good,” Maxwell said. “The family has lived here for about 12 years and he has undertaken projects that really add to the beauty of the home.
“In the front center area right next to the railing approaching the house he removed overgrown holly and now has jasmine, daylilies, and underplanting of tulips. The foundation plantings are so important and his are just right.”
The Bonners’ three children help out as well. “The children get involved when its time to choose the blooming plants for the pots and special area to surprise Mom,” Maxwell noted.
The back yard area gets plenty of attention.
“Through the garden gate that leads to the back area is just as special with blooming camellia and various trees and shrubs,” Maxwell said. “A very unique little house keeps the tools and equipment handy.”
Maxwell said the Daffodil Club is always happy to accept nominations from the public for its monthly award. To submit a nomination, call (229) 436-6888.
The club meets at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Federated Garden Center on Fifth Avenue.
