Charges pending in fatal wreck

TIFTON — One man is dead following a head-on collision in Tift County on Monday morning, Georgia State Patrol officials say.

Trooper First Class C.H. Parrish with the Georgia State Patrol post in Tifton, said the accident took place at around 9 a.m. and involved a 2002 Ford truck being driven by Johnnie Hill of Tifton and a 1984 Chevrolet Blazer being driven by Stephen Hobbs of Ty Ty.

Hill was traveling west on Upper Ty Ty Road while Hobbs was traveling eastward on the same road. Hill attempted to turn left onto Ray Taylor Road and struck Hobbs’ vehicle head on, Parrish said.

Hobbs, 58, was the sole fatality, with no other injuries reported, Parrish said. The accident remains under investigation, with charges pending against Hill, the trooper said.
