Woman hospitalized following south Albany shooting

Albany police investigating early Sunday shooting

ALBANY — One woman was injured in a shooting that took place in south Albany over the weekend, police officials say.

Officers responded to 1804 Gadsden Drive at 3:40 a.m. on Sunday in regards to shots being fired into the house and one person being injured. Upon arrival to the scene, it was discovered that shots were fired into the house through a window and the victim was struck at least two times, said Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman with the APD.

In addition to the victim, there was an adult male and two juveniles in the house at the time of the shooting. The victim, identified as Amanda Turner, 35, was transported by emergency medical personnel to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. She had been discharged by Monday afternoon, a hospital spokeswoman said.

There was no further information on Monday regarding the incident or a possible suspect. No other injuries were reported, Banks said.
