Sylvester fire chief charged with extortion

Sylvester Fire Chief Chris Duncan jailed on extortion charges

SYLVESTER — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Sylvester office, has confirmed the arrest Thursday of Sylvester fire chief, Chris Duncan on one count of theft by extortion. A media release issued Friday stated that on February 11 Tift Judicial Circuit District Attorney Paul Bowden had requested the GBI investigate Duncan on allegations of extortion involving the city of Sylvester.

Following his arrest, Duncan was transported to the Worth County jail, the release stated. GBI officials stated in the release that Duncan could face additional charges as a result of the investigation.
