ALBANY — Risque Boutique, a new clothing store in Albany will be celebrating its grand opening this weekend with refreshments and a special appearance from World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Famer Ron Simmons.
The store, which is owned by Simmons’ daughter, Kerrine Simmons, is located at 2510 Archwood Drive and features an array of vintage and modern clothing, as well as accessories.
“We look forward to bringing a fashion forward trends for women of all sizes and professions to Albany,” said Kerrine Simmons.
The grand opening event is scheduled to run from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Shoppers who make a purchase will receive an autograph from Ron Simmons.
Born in Perry, Ron Simmons became a star as a defensive player at Florida State University under coach Bobby Bowden, before a brief career playing professional football in the NFL and Canadian Football Leagues.
Simmons is best known, however, for his Hall of Fame career in professional wrestling, first in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and then in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Simmons is recognized as the first African-American heavyweight world champion and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2012.
