Hansel Eugene Edwards
CAMILLA - Hansel Eugene “Gene” Edwards, 72, of Camilla died Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 1 at Hopeful Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. Rev. Chad Boyd will officiate.
Active pallbearers will be Bunky Tyson, Brice Edwards, Josh Davis, Jacob Davis, John Willis, John Donalson, Jimmy Edwards, and Jr. Turner.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons and the Bobby Rogers/Calvin Baggs Sunday School Class of Hopeful Baptist Church.
Born November 12, 1941 in Mitchell County, Pop was the son of the late John Rufus & Willene Palmer Edwards. He was a farmer and a member of Hopeful Baptist Church. Pop was preceded in death by his brothers, John Edwards, Jr., Charles L. Edwards, Bobby V. Edwards, and John Wesley “J.W.”Edwards.
Survivors include his wife, Janie Beall Edwards of Hopeful; two daughters, Leslie Calhoun & husband, Johnny, of Camilla and Elise Davis & husband, Tony, of Camilla; one son, Heath Edwards of Camilla; three brothers, Cecil Edwards & wife Christine of Camilla, Lamar Edwards & wife Maxine of Camilla, Mervin Edwards & wife Sue of Leesburg; two sisters, Janice Bishop & husband, Howard, of Cairo and Frances Hooks & husband, Martie, of Camilla; fourteen grandchildren, Bunky Tyson, Jessi Tyson, Brice Edwards, Josh Davis, Jacob Davis, Alicia Kincheloe, Allie Kincheloe, Hayley Edwards, Delaney Calhoun, McKinley Calhoun, Josie Willis, Rayna Willis, John Willis, and Bella Willis; and one great grandchild.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 p.m. Friday, February 28 at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home in Camilla.
