ALBANY — The Rev. Mollie Roberts has been ordained to the Sacred Order of Priests in a ceremony at St. Paul’s Albany, where she serves as Curate.
Bishop Scott Benhase directed the ordination ceremony.
Her presenters were the Revs. Sam Buice and Lee Lowery as well as St. Paul’s members Molly and Bill Swan. The Rev. Bude Van Dyke preached. Van Dyke was Roberts’ field education mentor for two years in seminary.
Van Dyke is chaplain at St. Andrew’s, the Episcopal Day and Boarding School in Sewanee, where Roberts served her first year. He is also the Vicar of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in McMinnville, Tenn., where Roberts served her second year of field education, remaining with the congregation as a volunteer through graduation.
Roberts is a 2013 graduate of the University of the South at Sewanee. Prior to seminary, Roberts was a member of St. Peter’s Savannah, where he service included being Senior Warden.
At the time of her call, she worked as a professor of management at Savannah State University. Roberts has three grown children, two daughters and one son.
