Sauls rescues Terrell Academy boys with buzzer beater

Eagles advance to GISA Class AA Elite 8

TIFTON — Terrell Academy’s Jared Sauls scored just three points in Thursday’s GISA Class AA opening-round state tournament game against Arlington Christian.

But they were the biggest points of his life.

The junior banked in a 3-pointer at the buzzer to send the Eagles to a thrilling 65-64 victory and into the Elite 8. The shot was the culmination of a stunning comeback from Terrell Academy, which erased a 15-point halftime deficit.

Dalton Todd led the Eagles with 15 points, while Raleigh Carlson and Conor Walsh each scored 13 points. Gable Freeman also finished in double figures for Terrell Academy with 12 points.

Terrell Academy will play again Saturday against either Windsor Academy or First Presbyterian Academy.
